Ever since I decided to embark on a career in teaching languages, the OMLTA has been an important part of my professional development and personal growth. My first experience with the OMLTA occurred at the 2000 Spring Conference where I served as a student monitor during my pre-service year. I arrived at the hotel feeling like a deer starring into headlights. I was quickly greeted by the volunteer coordinator and put to work. Every detail had been thought of and the day ran without a glitch. I was honoured to introduce and thank the presenters, bringing back many of the skills and strategies shared to my practicum placement. I’ve been teaching ten years now and have not missed a conference! It is an opportunity to learn, to share, to re-connect, to meet, to re-energize, and to bring new things back to my classroom!
