As a member of the Ontario Modern Language Teachers’ Association I am proud to be part of the networking of language teachers across this province. Imagine, OMLTA is celebrating 125 years! That’s quite a milestone. It represents countless hours of work, limitless passion for teaching and learning, and invaluable support from colleague to colleague. Memories of early days at conferences include appreciation for the opportunity to network with so many teachers of French; forum for instructional strategies and resources to be shared; and opportunity to convey the essence of the key-note speaker’s message to colleagues ‘back home’ who did or did not teach French—just because it was so powerful and such a privilege to be there and to hear speakers of such stature as Stephen Lewis-I still wear proudly the pewter lapel pin from that year, “Languages for Peace.” 125 years of OMLTA memories to look back on, and foundation to build on! We’re part of a profession learning more and more about language learning. Looking forward to March, 2011!
