In the early 80′s I was just starting out as a Core French teacher. I attended a workshop at the spring conference given by Ron Henry, who had great ideas for motivating and engaging students. The social event was a dance on the boat beside the Harbour Castle. Matt Maxwell was playing and the place was packed. I took ideas from Ron and Matt back to my school and the students loved them. I will never forget the smiles in my primary classes every time “Rock and Roll Frères Jacques” changed from traditional to rock, and the junior students would have sung “C’est l’Hallowe’en” all year if I had let them. When the grade 8′s beautifully sang “Ce monde” for Earth Week, I was so proud of their committment to French and their proficiency.

So many other great workshop presenters inspired and helped me throughout the years, I can’t begin to remember them all, but the OMLTA certainly played a pivotal role in my career.
